A Quick Word

Hi and welcome to History Herstory, where I will be blogging about my genealogical research.

I chose History Herstory as I find the women in my family fascinating. From tales of women being excommunicated for marrying atheists, to women travelling hundreds of miles on horseback carrying babies in panniers, to the women who have 15 children, only to lose many of them in infancy (how on earth did they find the will to survive?), to women marrying men who could be their fathers and having long, happy marriages, to women who lead riots over workers rights.

The records favour men, and often all we have left of women are their first names, and I wanted the blog name to reflect this.

Even though my special interest has been women’s history, this blog is to preserve and archive the whole family history, so I am hoping to archive as much information as I can around all members of the family.

I am the mother to 2 wonderful children (2 under 2, as it stands) and since having my children, researching their dad’s family tree has become a “side hustle” for me in my spare spare time (since my spare time is spent researching my own tree).

I hope this blog is found by anyone who needs it and it proves useful.

Thanks,

C x
